Project handled as a Project Leader

  1. Survey and Mapping of different microflora or pathogens on seeds of different cotton varieties grown under various agro-climatic conditions of India
  2. Genetical studies on Cotton Seed with particular reference to Germination & Dormancy
  3. ICAR Seed Project-Seed Production in Agricultural Crops and Fisheries (Mega Seed Project)
  4. Identification of suitable areas in India for quality seed production with better seed health
  5. Assessment of Working Seed Sample size for Bt.Testing based on estimation Cry1Ac protein
  6. Studies on Seed Quality parameters of TFL seeds sold in the market .
  7. Development of mapping population for specific traits –GOT
  8. Supervised Centrally Sponsored Programme of ICDP like- Breeder seed production programme; Maintenance of N&B seed; IRM progrmme; Modernisation of ginning and pressing facilities at GTC,Nagpur of CIRCOT; FLD programme by ICAR/KVKs ETC...

Project handled as a Project Associate:

  1. Effect of different environmental conditions on seed yield and quality".
  2. Testing of Varieties for DUS under PVP and farmers right act.
  3. Yield & Seed Quality improvement in arboreum culture with low input management under different soil depth.
  4. Identification of G.arboreum genotypes suitable for low input management technology under different soil depths in Rainfed Conditions .(Title was modified)
  5. Assessment of Seed vigour traits in Cotton
  6. National Seed Project (NSP)

Implementable Technology generated:

  • Through project study on “ Survey and Mapping of different microflora or pathogens on seeds of different cotton varieties grown under various agro-climatic conditions of India” the places like Abohari in Punjab , Bharuch, Chharodi in Gujarat; Indore in M.P.and Nagpur in M.S from Central Zone and Dharwad in Karnataka and Trichy in T.N from South zone were found to be suitable places for seed production with minimum diseases/ microorganisms as the fungal incidence on the seed samples from these places was less than 5%.
  • The study on project –“ Effect of different environmental conditions on seed yield and quality revealed that the quality and health of cotton seeds were better in the crop grown under rainfed conditions than irrigated conditions.
  • Joined at Directorate of Cotton Development (DOCD) , Mumbai as Joint Director by retaining lien with CICR/ICAR as Scientist (Sr.Scale) .DOCD monitors Intensive Cotton Development Programme (ICDP) scheme in cotton growing States ( 9 traditional + 2 minor + 2 non-traditional States) . Earlier it is termed as ICDP scheme but re -termed as ICDP under Mini Mission II of TMC after launching the Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC). As Joint Director I am involved in the above programme .

This scheme provides subsidy for necessary components like -Distribution of Certified Seed, Field Demonstrations, Training of farmers, Training of extension workers, Setting up of Seed delinting plants, Distribution of Sprinkler sets, Distribution of Drip irrigation system, Setting up of Bio-agent labs, Surveillance of diseases and pests, IPM Demonstrations and training, Distribution of Pheromone traps, Supply of Sprayers/Dusters (Manual, Power, Tractor mounted). The GOI provides assistance to each State on 75:25 sharing basis for these components. Whereas GOI provides 100% funding to the components like Front Line Demonstration (FLD) by CICR/ICAR, Training and Ginning by CIRCOT of ICAR, Incentive on Seed production, Evaluation of Scheme, Seed Delinting Machines by NSC/SFCI etc.

Under ambitious TMC programme new guidelines were framed for the scheme in which National Level Monitoring Teams (NALMOT) were formed for each State with Director/ Joint director of DOCD as convener of the Team and with two expert members in cotton field. The team along with the State officials will monitor the scheme implemented in the respective State and submit their report to the Ministry of Agriculture along with their recommendations / suggestions. Thus I acted as convener for the South Zone (Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh);North Zone( Punjab ,Haryana &Rajasthan); Gujarat & Orissa States . Like wise State Level Monitoring Team (SALMOT) will monitor the scheme at the State level.

  • Review meetings were conducted in each zone to review the ICDP in each State of that Zone for the current year implementation of the programme. And the proceedings were prepared along with the recommendations especially for South Zone by this officer.
  • Supervised the work of weather watch reports for Cotton & Other Crops
